Why aren't you pulling vacuum at the high point..??...fill at that fitting.....a quick connect low would enable less air introduced while filling.....

I just helped my brother in law change out a fuel pump on a 5.0 TBI. Did the engineers at Mercruiser put that thing down there on purpose to make people's lives miserable? This is why I own a Yamaha outboard.

Y'know, all that would really be needed much of the time would be a honkin' big generator head inside a shell with either a native or adapted pattern for the classic V8 bellhousings, and with a motor attached behind but designed to fit transmission mounts and have a U-joint output in the same location as the original transmission in the swap. Battery packs in the rear frame rail slots and/or 'sidesaddle" (re: early 80's GM saddle tank location), controller nearby, and there you go. EV conversion only slightly more complex than a transmission swap. Oh, and have a servo for the original throttle and hook the linkage to the stock gas pedal to a dual rheostat unit to tell the controller what to provide.

What state are you in? I need to do the same thing in my truck.
